a DIY dining room makeover

February 8, 2018

Over the past ten years of living in this house, I have stared at this dining room and felt like something was off. Unlike many homes where the dining room is set off to the side and you fight off the urge to create a home gym or craft room, our dining room is smack … More a DIY dining room makeover

Buy or DIY: a polka dot maxi wrap dress

May 11, 2017

I went to a wedding recently and all the girls my age were wearing maxi dresses. Seriously, every last one of them. Which is something I could definitely get on board with. I mean, think about it. You can still get all dressed up but don’t have to shave your legs. And then you are have all … More Buy or DIY: a polka dot maxi wrap dress

this is not an ad or paid promotion. just my poor attempt at artistic photography of a piece of card stock. also because we’re leaving tomorrow for vacation and headed in the direction of snow. so in case i inadvertently freeze my very southern, very warm blooded family to death, please know this is the card i was planning to mail out. many blessings. 🥶 📸 by @caitlynmotyckaphotography who is just fantastic.
if you’re shopping for me for christmas, my favorite color is: this door. and my size is: window seat with lap infant. 🎁 also, i’m working on a charleston “family travel guide” with a local publication, so out of curiosity which photo do you prefer: 1, 2, or 3? let me know your top pick! 😊
if i knew then what i know now, i’d still do it all over again. i’d still cry an ocean’s worth of tears waiting to find you. i’d still toss thousands of dollars into a barrel and watch it drift away with the tide. i now know it all happened right when it was supposed to, exactly how it happened, to lead you here to me. just as you are. 💙💙
it takes me approximately 3 hours and 23 minutes to get myself and two children out the door in the morning. 0 percent of us are morning people and 100 percent of my children still can’t pull a shirt over their heads to save their lives. some days i lose it. and most days i stumble to our location significantly late and overly apologetic. and then there are days like these. when Liam doesn’t have school, we have nothing on our calendars, and we spend the morning in sweat pants doing nothing and everything all at once. there are so many personal and professional goals i have set for myself and i worry that i don’t have the hustle that i see so many amazing other women and working moms out there have. i do hope to get there one day. but for now, hopefully i am exactly where i am supposed to be. ☺️
this is your friendly reminder that if you’re still eating thanksgiving leftovers tonight, just stop. it’s time. put down the fork and no one gets hurt.🦃
lately i’ve been trying hard to get us all out of the house for a walk, to turn that witching hour into a magic golden hour instead. giving myself some grace and reminding myself that i’m not a bad mom. because every time 5pm rolls around and my children start to behave like feral cats, i find comfort knowing that hopefully your children are at home doing the same exact thing. 🤪 #honestmotherhood
